THE SPRING IS SPRUNG…

… The grass is riz; I wonder where the vintage is?

It’s right here, my friends – it’s all right here.

The Symmetric comes out of hibernation to present:

A (thank god it’s <finally>) SPRING POP-UP!

Sunday, MAY 1st from 11am-3pm
at The Orchard, 7739 Nottawasaga Side Rd 36/37
(that’s in Nottawa, ON, five minutes south of Collingwood – here’s a map)

I’ve spent the winter hoarding pretty dresses, lightweight knits, and lots of other warm-weather vintage staples, including a collection of jewelry, accessories, and for the first time, shoes.  I’ll have bubbly and snacks and let’s cross our fingers for some sunshine, shall we? Can’t wait to see you.

DUE DATE

Today was our baby’s due date, but it doesn’t look like s/he is in any hurry to make an appearance. I realized that we have exactly ZERO pictures of my big belly this time around, so Chris obliged with the camera while Theo and I hammed it up a little (we’re standing in front of one of his gorgeous paintings). The countdown is on!

DREAM BUSINESS: FLOWERKRAUT

I’m rounding out the week here with another floral and food-related post – and why the hell not?

I just discovered this inspiring studio, Flowerkraut, located in the heart of now-trendy Hudson, New York. Mairead Rhona Travins and her husband Seth Benjamin Travins run the shop, which bills itself as “where floral design holds hand with lacto-fermentation.” She does the flowers, he sells his famous sauerkraut.  Brilliant. Dream business in my next life, perhaps.

Here’s another peek at their local flower arrangements (I love their wild, undone feel) and great branding (by the inimitable twin sisters known as The Weaver House). Flower studio photographs by Floortje Robertson. Have a beautiful weekend!

UNJUSTIFIABLE OBJECTS OF AFFECTION: SUMMER WARDROBE

Bring on the texture, colour, and… pom-poms.  YES.  Hypothetically, of course – I will be purchasing exactly zero of these.  Keep dreaming, my friends.

1.  Thierry Lasry Peroxxxy sunglasses, Creatures of Comfort.  Achingly cool.

2.  Blakeley summer stripe pumps, J. Crew Collection.  Possibly the least practical pair of shoes I could pick out given my current situation.

3.  Correll Correll S/S14 collection.  Their mixed material clothing is amazing; check out their site because this pic does not really do it justice.

4.  Antonello Tedde woven clutch bag, Madewell.  Those damn pom-poms…

5.  Antik Batik Brasil bracelet, Shopbop.  My daughter and I would inevitably fight over this one.

SUMMER SWING

Yes, you absolutely need one of these.

What seemed like a bit of a misguided dud gift on my part for Chris’ birthday back in the dead of October, the Mayan hammock is now our most prized possession.  We hung it up between two apple trees a couple of weekends ago and it’s the most relaxing (or stimulating, if you’re a three year old) thing ever.

Tangled up in you.

(These were taken on a chilly day, hence the puffy vest.  I know, I know – is there ever an adequate excuse for a puffy vest? Let’s just move on)

“Are you sure we can’t sleep here tonight?”

I’m a bit behind on publishing photos from around here (Gillian was managing our Instagram account so I’m trying to clue myself in there but the pace is glacial) but I’ll get there… lots more absurd wholesomeness to come.
