The Symmetric is run by Shanan Kurtz as an ongoing series of creative projects, which include vintage pop-up shops, small-scale art editions, and this blog.

A former city girl by way of NYC and Toronto, I now lead a country life near the wilds of small-town Collingwood, Ontario with my husband, Chris, and our two little kids, Theodora and Rhys.

I’m a graphic designer, sometimes a stylist, and often some blend of an introverted, self-deprecating maximalist magpie hippie who enjoys getting way too dressed up and jarring applesauce.

I collect and sell eclectic, wearable vintage clothing and jewelry – unique and special pieces to complement a contemporary wardrobe.  The concept of a fashion ‘uniform’ and capsule dressing is kind of the thing right now, but I like to think of Symmetric style as an anti-uniform.

The blog archives are still up though it has basically gone dormant for a while, and has been an outlet for sharing a mix of passions: offbeat beauty and visual art, interiors and fashion, as well as the odd personal photo and musing from our modest homestead-y place.
